LJ’s Perfect Pitch means everything and everyone has a note and a key.
She can hear anything and play it fully orchestrated on the piano, which gives her an incredibly deep understanding of music. Laura-Jane holds a Grade 8 distinction in Piano and Grade 7 in recorder. She also holds Grade 7 in Music theory. After gaining a scholarship to the Royal College of Music aged 11, she continued on to university, where she read Music at Christ Church College, Oxford.
Laura-Jane’s music degree included the Physics of Music and Acoustics – as well as Music History, Composition theory and Music Analysis. She went on to perform at many venues – from cruise ships to concert halls. She has performed both in open-air festivals, and controlled studio environments. Laura-Jane has spoken on the BBC explaining music copyright, how MP3s work and has also played the piano on News At Ten talking about songs that sound alike- and explaining why that is the case.
LJ was also one of the few people this century to be recorded live playing the piano into a Wax Cylinder for BBC Technology Desk.
